A Book About Ontario Cemeteries and Graveyards

I found a book with photographs and history of Ontario cemeteries and graveyards. There must be some difference between the two, I will look it up later. The book is by Jennifer McKendry. She is a history enthusiast in Kingston, Ontario. On her site she has written about antiques, architecture, old houses, and researching historic properties.… Read the rest

Never Seen Again, in Ontario?

The words “never seen again” are the creepiest phrase I’ve ever heard. They show up in childhood fantasy tales, as well as horror stories. So any story, fiction or fact, with those words haunts me. They are creepy and fascinating and a mystery usually not solved.

I’ve heard stories, reports and tall tales about people never seen again.… Read the rest

Stone House Not Long for this World

A house on a hill. I think this was along Jane Street if you travel long enough north of Toronto. I haven’t been keeping track. Not remembering where places are is the best way to not share location information and see the old places vandalized. This one will be torn down at some point. The real estate is too desired for an old ruin to be left alone for long.… Read the rest

But, pretty sure no one still lives in this one. There was a small rusted sign along the side of the driveway, but nothing I could still read on it.… Read the rest

Old Hamilton, 1950’s

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I think this was taken in the 1950’s by my Grandfather, Bill Scherle.

Likely this was taken from the mountain, or what they call a mountain in Hamilton. It is a nice view. Some of these type of houses can still be found in Hamilton. The house my Mother grew up in is still there.… Read the rest

Address Photography

Edward Donnelly, from California, in the US, posts photographs of address plates from buildings. How often do you pass by these house numbers and not even think twice about them? But, some are unique, old and interesting.
